Just at the Manchester side of Stockport viaduct, Heaton Norris is the last signalbox before Manchester Piccadilly Signalling Centre. The signalbox controls the junction for the Denton line.

The Baron Street developement also requires the filling of a huge hole at the side of the existing loco works site. This was originally going to be done by way of spoil from the Metrolink but will now be filled by opening the land as hard core landfill. (Sorry for the amount of photo's but it's difficult to show the vast scale of this piece of land!)

6P24 is the headcode of the first trains for the ELR and the metrolink contract these are bringing ballast and on friday the 30th March brought in sleepers.

This train brought some wagons to the ELR for training purposes. They were used to train ELR staff on the use of airbrake's for freight wagons as Carrillion are using ELR staff for shunting whilst on ELR metals.

Baron street is being revamped. The first step is the Metrolink renewal which will leave us with sidings that were'nt there before and hopefully spoil which will fill in the huge void in the land next to the current site

Ramsbottom level crossing is in a dire state and is therefore being redone. The original level crossing was an open top troff for all the rodding, signal wire and cable runs with wooden slats across the top to make the road surface. This is now being replaced with a highly robust alternative and eventually Wig Wags.
